Slack Integration Guide
Connect Terapage to Slack so your research team can receive real-time study updates, AI insights, participant activity, approvals, reminders, and operational alerts in the Slack channels where your team already works.
What it does
Sends selected Terapage workspace and study notifications into Slack channels or direct messages, helping teams respond faster without constantly checking the platform.
Who uses it
Researchers, collaborators, observers, research operations teams, client teams, and project managers who need quick visibility across active studies.
Best for
Live interviews, focus groups, diary studies, AI-moderated interviews, community updates, approval alerts, participant activity, and insight publishing workflows.
Before you start
- You must be a Terapage workspace admin or have permission to manage workspace integrations.
- You must be able to install apps in the Slack workspace you want to connect.
- Decide which Slack channels should receive Terapage notifications, for example #research-ops, #study-alerts, or a private project channel.
1. Open the Integrations area in Terapage
Go to Workspace Administration inside Terapage.
Select Integrations from the left-hand menu.
Find the Slack card and click Manage or connect Slack if it has not already been connected.
2. Authorise Terapage in Slack
Slack will ask you to review the permissions requested by the Terapage app. Select the correct Slack workspace, review the access request, then click Allow.
| Permission area | Why Terapage uses it |
|---|---|
| Channels and conversations | To show available channels and send selected notifications to the channels you choose. |
| Workspace information | To confirm the Slack workspace connected to your Terapage workspace. |
| Actions in channels | To post study updates, alerts, insights, and notification messages. |
3. Choose the channels and direct messages to notify
After Slack is connected, configure where notifications should be sent. You can route different events to public channels, private channels, or direct messages.
- Public channels: Select available channels directly from the Terapage interface.
- Private channels: Invite the Terapage Slack app to the private channel first, then select it in Terapage.
- Direct messages: Send notifications to the connected Slack user or add additional Slack member IDs.
Recommended notification setup
| Slack destination | Recommended events | Best user group |
|---|---|---|
| #study-alerts | Participant completions, activity submissions, overdue tasks, study milestones. | Researchers and project managers. |
| #ai-insights | New AI summaries, themes, sentiment alerts, published insights, recap updates. | Insight teams, clients, observers. |
| #research-ops | Recruitment issues, quota changes, consent alerts, incentive updates, approval requests. | Operations and admin teams. |
| Direct message | High-priority alerts, failed automation, approval reminders, urgent participant issues. | Workspace admins and study leads. |
Events Terapage can send to Slack
Participant activity
New sign-ups, completion alerts, drop-offs, missed activities, quota updates, and participant status changes.
Study operations
Approvals, reminders, scheduled interviews, completed sessions, focus group changes, and internal workflow alerts.
AI insights
AI summaries, transcripts, themes, sentiment changes, coded outputs, published reports, and recap highlights.
Private channel setup
For private Slack channels, first invite the Terapage app into the channel from Slack. You can usually do this by typing an invite command in the private channel, then returning to Terapage and selecting that channel as a notification destination.
Managing or disconnecting Slack
- Go to Workspace Administration > Integrations > Slack > Manage.
- Add or remove channels and direct message recipients.
- Change which event types are sent to Slack.
- Disconnect Slack if your team no longer wants Terapage to post updates to the workspace.
Connected When Slack is connected successfully, Terapage shows the integration status in the Slack card and in the Slack Integration settings page.
Troubleshooting
| Issue | What to check |
|---|---|
| Slack channel is missing | Confirm the channel exists, the app has access, and private channels have invited the Terapage app. |
| Notifications are not appearing | Check that the channel is selected, the event type is enabled, and Slack access has not been revoked. |
| Wrong Slack workspace connected | Disconnect Slack, reconnect, and select the correct Slack workspace during the Slack authorisation step. |
| Team member does not receive DMs | Confirm the Slack member ID is correct and that direct message notifications are enabled. |
To sum it up: Terapage Slack integration helps research teams stay aligned by sending participant activity, study operations, approvals, AI insights, and urgent alerts directly into Slack.
